On last night’s episode of Parenthood, “All Aboard Who’s Coming Aboard,” Amber and Ryan share their big news; Crosby and Jasmine are embarrassed in public; Camille and Zeek discuss the house; and Kristina announces her campaign for mayor.

Amber and Ryan shared a beautifully if not inappropriate moment in her car during last night’s episode of Parenthood, but it was Max‘s random intrusion that saved the moment. The new shutterbug in the family successfully got them out of the car, just after they decided they would wait to tell the family, at least until Amber spoke to her mom and Drew first. Of course, as soon as she walked in, that went out the window. The first thing she did was let them all know they’re engaged!  Everyone was thrilled except mommy Sarah, who looked more confused than anything else. Understandably so, her first instinct is to question her daughter on where this was all coming from. Her endgame though, not so clear.

But after opposing views try to influence her real feelings about her daughter’s engagement, Sarah decides to embrace big brother’s subliminal “get on board” talk to offer her assistance in planning the wedding. This could either be disastrous, or an amazing moment for her and Amber, and we’re hoping it’s a little bit of both. But what’s really going through Ryan’s head at this moment? His spur of the moment explanation was semi-romantic, but it makes us wonder, is he really ready to get married? How is he really handling his PTSD? We expect something to happen again this season, since we can’t have every branch of the Braverman clan in a happily ever after state all season.

Meanwhile, Crosby and Jasmine are dealing with the hardships of a newborn, who Crosby has gone so far as to tell Jabbar is the worst for all her crying, but we must say he’s handling his son’s disappointment in all the attention baby Aida is getting pretty amazingly. It was unfortunate that on Jabbar’s night as the family was out to dinner nearby customers were so rude enough to complain about a crying Aida as Jasmine was trying to breastfeed her. I have my own feelings about public exposure, but she’s a new mom! Crosby’s exit was a classic. I wonder if the host ever managed to wrap up all their leftovers…

Mom and pop are in ‘this old house’ mess with the Braverman staple, but Zeek is not ready to give it up. Camille hints that it might be time for them to start their act 3 in something smaller, like a condo, and maybe travel a lot more, but it’s obvious that Zeek still wants the house to be a home away from home for the growing family. Note to the writers, save that big sale for the series finale.

Lastly, Kristina hired the very talented, keep-it-real Heather Hall (Jurnee Smollett-Bell, True Blood; Eve’s Bayou) as her campaign manager, who quickly realizes that Adam is not fully on board with campaign, nor does he seem to believe she has a chance to win. We hope he gets on board soon, cause her story has a lot of potential to woo the people of Berkley. That last glimmer in his eyes as she gave her announcement speech seemed to indicate he may be starting to get the picture. And wouldn’t they be a picturesque political family? Kristina Braverman for mayor, her husband, baby and son with Asperger’s in tow? If that’s not a real picture of America, I don’t know what is.

Good luck at the races, Mrs. Braverman!
